MercanPay Merchant Application: How to Open Your Account
How the MercanPay merchant application works: account and business details, email verification, the review stage and your first steps once you're approved.
The MercanPay merchant application is the first step before you can accept crypto payments. Accounts aren't switched on instantly. Every merchant fills in a short form, verifies their email address and has the application reviewed. This post explains what the form asks for, what you see while you wait, and what to set up first once you're approved.
Why is there an application and review?
A payment gateway is only as trustworthy as the businesses that use it. Reviewing applications helps the platform work with legitimate businesses, which makes for a healthier environment for merchants and customers alike.
It helps you too. Describing your business opens a channel for setting up your account properly. Commission, for example, starts from 0.4% and varies per merchant, so accurate details make a fair assessment easier.
The MercanPay merchant application form in two steps
The form lives on the Sign up tab of the merchant panel's login screen and has two steps.
Step 1: Account details
- Business name: shown in the panel and on your payment page. At least 2 characters.
- Email: sign-in codes, security notices and support replies go here, so use a business address you check regularly.
- Password: at least 10 characters with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter and a digit. Don't reuse it anywhere else.
Step 2: Business details
- Business description: what you sell and how you plan to use crypto payments, between 20 and 1,000 characters.
- Your website or platform: if you don't have a site, name the platform or channel you sell through.
- Estimated monthly volume: one of five ranges: under $1,000, $1,000–10,000, $10,000–50,000, $50,000–250,000, or $250,000+.
- How should we reach you? Pick Telegram or WhatsApp and enter your handle or number.
- Are you using another payment provider today? If you answer "yes", name it. This part is optional.
Finally, you accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy and create the account.
How to write a good business description
The description is the most important part of your application. Keep it short but concrete:
- What do you sell? Say "software licences and plugin subscriptions" rather than "digital products".
- Who are your customers? Consumers, businesses or buyers abroad.
- How will you use crypto payments? Through the API on your site, or by sending payment links from the panel?
- Why crypto? Give your real reasons, such as international buyers, lower fees or fast settlement.
An example:
"We sell design templates and UI kits to customers in Turkey and abroad. We want to add a USDT option at checkout and deliver orders automatically via webhooks. We'll also send invoice links from the panel to our business clients."
A description like this makes your business easy to understand.
What to prepare before you apply
To fill in the form in one go, have these ready:
- a business email address you check regularly and only you can access,
- a strong, unique password stored in a password manager,
- your website or the platform you sell on,
- a few concrete sentences describing your business,
- a realistic monthly volume estimate,
- a Telegram handle or WhatsApp number where you can be reached.
Be realistic rather than optimistic about volume. It's only used for the review, and things can change as your business grows.
Email verification
As soon as you create the account, a 6-digit verification code is sent to your email. It's valid for 30 minutes. If it doesn't show up, check your spam folder first, then use "Resend code".
Your application isn't reviewed until the email is verified. After verification you'll see a message confirming the application was received.
What you see during the review
While your application is under review, you see an application status screen instead of the panel, marked "Under review". The screen tracks the status on its own, so once you're approved it switches to the panel without a refresh.
At this stage:
- You can use Support. Merchants with a verified email whose application is under review can open support tickets from the status screen, to add details or ask a question. The ticket system is described in merchant support tickets.
- You can't create invoices or API keys yet. The rest of the panel opens after approval.
- We may reach you on the channel you gave. Double-check your Telegram or WhatsApp details.
Review times vary, so we don't promise a specific turnaround.
If the application isn't approved
If your application isn't approved, the status screen shows an explanation. If you think there's been a mistake, contact us through Support.
Your first five steps after approval
Once approved, you'll see a confirmation screen and be taken into the panel. We recommend doing these on day one:
- Set up an authenticator app. Withdrawals need an authenticator code as well as an email code. See crypto merchant account security.
- Save your withdrawal address. Add the TRC20 address you'll withdraw to as a saved address. The payout flow is covered in the crypto balance withdrawal process.
- Create your first invoice. Make a payment link from the panel in a few clicks and send yourself a small test payment. Follow create your first crypto invoice.
- Create an API key if you'll integrate. Grant only the scope you need, usually
invoices. Our PHP and Python guides are ready for you. - Enter your webhook URL under Settings → Webhook URL and send a test event from the Webhooks page.

FAQ
Can I apply without a website?
Yes. Enter the platform or channel you sell through. You can accept payments without a site using payment links created in the panel.
Does applying cost anything?
There's no application fee. Fees consist of the payment commission, which starts from 0.4% and varies per merchant, and a $1–3 withdrawal fee.
How long does the review take?
It varies. The status screen switches to the panel automatically as soon as you're approved.
I entered something wrong in my application. What now?
Open a support ticket from the application status screen and send the correct details.
